A poem about mental pain:

The mind is the toughest prison to break out of.
We are trapped inside our heads.
The thoughts and feelings of pain of the past and worries of the future.
Keeping us up at night in our bed.
You see, that event that happened at that time at that place.
What hurts you is showing on your face.
The mental loops of what was done, what was said, what was taken, what was lost, and we feel shaken.

But I refuse to feel the pain.
I'm not my thoughts, I’m not this feeling.
I’m on a path to focus on my healing.
And I deserve the best. I am strong.
Don't get me wrong.
Because we all suffer in some way, shape and form.
From dusk to dawn.
But I refuse to let negativity consume me and destroy me.
I will rise from the pit of my mind that's tried to control me.

I will work hard. I will fight.
I will surround myself with positive people.
My life does have a sequel.
Each day I’ll focus on me.
And be the best version of myself I can be.
I’ll never let pain take over me.
The universe will provide for me.
And I will be at peace.
